Magazine Articles Written by Lucius Beebe: An Index

Publications which feature articles by writer Lucius Beebe
Magazines in which Beebe contributed his firy wit. Yes, we know the Territorial Enterprise isn't a magazine, but truth be told it isn't exactly a newspaper, either. [Photo by Taylor Hamby]

While Lucius Beebe began his writing career with poetry and became a household name in America in the 1930s as a newspaperman and lives on primarily through his railroad books, Beebe was also a regular contributor to magazines.

Beebe was often both author and subject of articles for the glossies of the day, but here we're focusing on the articles that Beebe wrote himself. The list is comprehensive, but likely not complete. We'll be adding more as they surface.

Whenever possible, we've included a link to read the article as they've been digitized by the few publishers that remain active online or by reputable libraries. If there is a digital copy online, you'll see the name of the article underlined. That's your ticket to read the digital version of the article on another website.

So without much more fanfare, from Lucius Beebe's Smith-Corona to your corneas--here's

Author's note & legal mumbo jumbo: This list has been compiled based on the author Taylor Hamby's personal research. It is thorough and comprehensive but likely not complete.

A huge debt of gratitude goes to the work of George M. Jenks, University Librarian of Bucknell University as published in Bulletin of Bibliography July-September 1980: Vol 37 Issue 3. Mr. Jenks' thorough list of Beebe's works was invaluable in helping to organize Beebe's editorial periodical work which is otherwise scattered like autumn leaves across the cultural consciousness. Mr. Jenks consulted many reference guides himself for his work, which can be inspected on the bottom of page 132 in the above link.

Your lowly scribe of course owns and claims no copyright to any of the above publications, terms, articles, phrases, words or names that are mentioned, shown or referenced on this page. These are merely listed under Fair Use in the spirit and intention of educational and reference purposes only.
